Wood substitutes are something our clients request more and more for their flooring and wainscoting. Therefore, we recommend Duraplank or XL Flooring. Duraplank is a partially recycled material with a lower price point, and XL Flooring uses twice-recycled material. Both have beautiful wood textures with natural-looking grain and come in a huge variety of colours. Therefore, either option is an excellent alternative to tile for bathroom, laundry and kitchen renovations. They cost $3 to $5 per square foot versus $15 to $20 for tile, and because the vinyl is coloured throughout, any scratches or cuts won’t show up as easily as traditional vinyl.

There are some great natural-wood alternatives to reclaimed wood or original wood posts and beams. Ask us about post-and-beam lookalikes that are nailed to the wall and look very real.
